This week has been a busy one. Wednesday night was our concert, which featured our symphonic band performing both concert band works and Christmas Arrangements, our Newly Formed JAZZ BAND, and our Marching Band performing their award winning Thriller.
Thursday evening we had our first basketball game. The band did a great job, (especially with their 1-2-3-YES! cheers) and you can look forward to hearing them at the rest of the games this year.
Friday Evening we are performing at the Tree Lighting Festival at 6pm.
Saturday we have been given the opportunity to provide Baked Potatoes for the Winterfest Event. This will occur from 10am-4pm. If you would like to help, please show up!

Middle School Concert
Band Concert Last night went excellent. The kids sounded great, and looked great too!
Concert Band Performed Four pieces: "Let's Go Band", "Galactic Episode", "Westwind Overture" and "Eagle Summit March".
Symphonic Band performed four as well: "Cumberland Gap", "Anasazi", "Torero!" and "March on a Welsh Air".
This performance was the debut of the new uniforms for the symphonic band (black ties and cummerbunds) and they looked very professional.
The band was also excited about the number of audience members that attended. Thanks to all that showed up to support the band!

Veteran's Day
This weekend the High School Marching Band competed in the Auburn Veteran's Day Marching Band Competition. They placed first in the novice division in the parade. They did a great job!
We performed "Thriller" and "Military Escort March".
The kids also had the opportunity to watch some really great field shows and hear some great bands at the same time, many of them that were smaller than our ensemble.
The kids were very excited about the opportunities for the future that we should be bringing to Tenino in association with the field show marching and the competitions.

Next Two Weeks: The Final Countdown
The Next two weeks are going to very busy for the high school band. This friday we have our football game vs. Rochester. Our halftime show will consist of a tribute to Hal Williams, Final Countdown, and In the Stone.
Next week we are busy supporting the school. Tuesday is senior night for soccer so we are performing from 630-700 for the soccer girls. Wednesday evening we have rehearsal from 6-830. Thursday we are performing for senior night of the volleyball game. Friday is Halloween and the final football game of the 2008 season. We will be performing Thriller, arranged by Christopher Lennard. This is the same music we will be performing for the Veteran's Day Parade the next week.
Friday November 7th we are performing at Parkside for their awards/veterans day assembly and following classes that day, we are headed to Auburn, WA for the Veteran's Day Marching Band Competition, which will take place all day Nov. 8th.
The following Monday, we will be performing for Tenino Middle School and Tenino High School for their respective veteran's day assemblies.
And then we can slow down a little bit until the concert on Nov. 13th for the Middle School, the Elementary Concert on the 20th, and the HS concert on Dec. 4th.
Whew!

ALL PARENTS should have read and signed the Band Handbook for their respective school. If you havent seen it, ask your child about it!
